Love and Trust in Health Care - Navigating and Responding to Moral Injury

Many of us have chosen our health care professions to help and heal people, and perhaps also to be conduits of the love and care of God. But what happens when we work in systems that do not reflect this love and care, or when we find ourselves practicing in ways that violate our deepest commitments? This “moral injury” or moral tension can be associated with inner restlessness, fatigue, guilt, shame, anger, and discouragement. In this conversation with Warren Kinghorn, we will explore the meaning and nature of moral injury as it was described first among combat veterans and later among health care workers, and speak together about how to prevent and heal moral injury in the light and with the resources of our Christian faith. We hope that you can come and meet other health care workers at Blacknall who have similar experiences!
